Founded on June 26, 1986, in Brusque, Havan began as a small wholesale fabric store. The name Havan is a combination of the initial letters of the founders’ names: Luciano Hang and Vanderlei de Limas.
In 1989, the company established its headquarters at its current location on Rodovia Antonio Heil in downtown Brusque. Over the years, the facilities have undergone several expansions, culminating in the current 30,000 square meters of sales area. One notable expansion included the adoption of a facade inspired by the White House, which characterizes Havan’s architectural projects. Additionally, a replica of the Statue of Liberty was incorporated into the store concept.
In the early 1990s, Havan began importing fabrics and low-value items to serve retail across Brazil. By 1999, the company opened two branches in Curitiba. Following currency devaluation, Havan shifted its focus to department stores, opening new branches in Florianópolis, Criciúma, Joinville, and Balneário Camboriú.

Challenges
Havan boasts a strong team of over 200 professionals within its innovation and digital transformation hub, Havan Labs. This team began investing in various automation projects across the company’s business units, initially using a low-code tool for their RPA initiatives. However, the tool’s limitations in performance and flexibility hampered its ability to keep up with the growing complexity of automations. The Center of Excellence (CoE) required a solution that would provide developers with greater autonomy and effectively manage a wide range of processes across different sectors, from finance to HR.
Solution
Transitioning to Python-based RPA, orchestrated by BotCity, enabled Havan to significantly boost its development capacity and the speed of its automation processes. “The speed of automations is unparalleled. With Python-based automations, we’ve greatly enhanced performance,” notes Carlos.
However, scaling automations in Python introduced governance challenges. To address this, Havan decided to implement BotCity’s orchestration tool for code-based automations. The use of Python orchestration brought more efficient and secure management, particularly in sensitive areas like Human Resources. As a result, people in HR and Purchasing who previously dedicated hours a week to manual tasks, such as entering and validating data in systems, now have more time to dedicate to more strategic tasks.
